Principles for Responsible Investment
Stafford became a signatory to the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) in January 2010 as part of Stafford’s ongoing commitment to the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects of its fiduciary duty to provide well managed and secure investments.
Stafford’s ongoing status as a PRI signatory is driven by a number of core beliefs:
We believe that ESG factors are intrinsic to the investment environment in which we operate. We recognize our responsibility as an investor, to contribute to a more sustainable financial system by taking a long-term, responsible approach to investing across all our business lines.
We believe that active management of ESG issues is consistent with best practice timberland management and portfolio development; and
There is strong alignment with our clients on responsible investment, many of whom are also signatories to the PRI.
Stafford is committed to supporting the PRI and ensuring our investment activities are in line with industry best practice.
Stafford’s approach to responsible investment is outlined in our Responsible Investment Report 2020/21, published in October 2021 and available on the company website.
